Free GEO audit · GEO = Generative Engine Optimization, optimizing your site for AI engines
Can AI engines read your website?
A free, instant check of the 24 signals ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude need to read and understand your site. No account, no card.
What we check
- Your site responds — If your site does not respond, no AI engine can read it.
- AI crawlers see the same page as your visitors — Some sites block or change their content for robots, so AI engines read an empty or different page.
- Secure connection (HTTPS) — Search engines and AI engines trust secure sites more.
- Loading speed — A slow page may be abandoned by visitors and only partly read by crawlers.
- AI crawlers allowed (robots.txt) — If your robots.txt file blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot, these AI engines cannot read your site.
- Sitemap declared in robots.txt — It helps crawlers find all your pages quickly.
- Sitemap (sitemap.xml) — Without a sitemap, some of your pages may never be discovered.
- llms.txt file — A recent, optional convention: a short text file that presents your business to AI engines.
- Text readable without JavaScript — Most AI crawlers read the raw HTML: if your text only appears through JavaScript, they see an almost empty page.
- Page title — The title is one of the first things search engines and AI engines read to understand your page.
- Meta description — This short summary often appears in search results and helps engines describe you.
- Headings structure — A clear structure (one main heading, then sub-headings) helps engines understand your content.
- Page language declared — Declaring the language helps engines answer in the right language with your page.
- Your customers' languages — AI engines answer in the customer's language: without a version of your site in that language, you are rarely recommended in it.
- Structured data (schema.org) — This hidden code tells engines clearly who you are: name, activity, address, opening hours.
- Your business declared as an entity — Declaring your business as an organization helps AI engines connect your site to your name.
- Canonical address — It tells engines which address is the official one when the same page exists in several versions.
- Sharing preview (Open Graph) — It controls the title and image shown when your page is shared, and gives engines a clean summary.
- Your name appears in the text — If your brand name is not written in the text of your homepage, engines have trouble linking the page to you.
- Contact details readable — A visible phone number and address reassure AI engines that you are a real, located business.
- Questions and answers (FAQ) — AI engines rely heavily on question-and-answer content to build their answers.
- Image descriptions (alt) — Robots cannot see images: the alt text tells them what each image shows.
- Page weight — A very heavy page loads slowly and may be cut off by crawlers.
- Key pages (about, services, contact) — Detailed pages about what you do give AI engines the facts they need to recommend you.
A readable site is necessary, but it does not guarantee that AI engines will recommend you: they also rely on what other sites say about you.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The check reads your public pages and does not use any paid AI call, so we can offer it to everyone, without an account.
Does a good score mean ChatGPT recommends me?
No. It means AI engines can read and understand your site. Whether they recommend you also depends on the sources they read about you; our free AI test measures that.
What do you do with my site address?
We read your public pages to run the check. If you ask for the report by email, we keep your email to send it and may contact you about AIVisib.
